Yes, you are required to utilize a Level 2 charging station to participate in this program. In addition, any charging station used to participate in this program with a date of manufacture after January 18, 2023, must meet or exceed the “Energy Star Program Requirements Product Specification for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, Version 1.0” developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (Energy Star Version 1.0).
Check if your charger qualifies with the search tool from ENERGY STAR®. If your charging station was manufactured before January 18, 2023, this requirement does not apply.
This requirement is pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:27D-141.18 et seq. “New Jersey Appliance and Equipment Efficiency Standards”.
